LATEST FOREIGN TRADE RESULTS
The value of Serbia's foreign trade in the period from January
to September 2003 rose to a total of $6.88 billion, a 25.9 percent increase
compared to last years figures, with the foreign trade deficit reaching $3.25
billion, according to the latest information from the Serbian Statistics Bureau.
In the first nine months of 2003, Serbia exported $1.81 billion
worth of goods, 21.5 percent more than over the same period in 2002, and
imported $5.07 billion, showing a 27.6 percent rise from last year.

According to the figures, the most exported products from
Serbia are intermediate goods ($959.8 million); consumer goods ($710.8 million);
and equipment ($144.4 million), while major Serbian importers include
Bosnia-Herzegovina ($285 million); Italy ($266 million); and Germany ($211
million), reads a statement from the Statistics Bureau.

In the same period, Serbia imported $2.94 billion worth of
intermediate goods; $1.09 billion in equipment; and $1.04 billion worth of
consumer goods. The highest imports were from Russia, $737 million; from
Germany, $704 million; and from Italy, $495 million, according to the statement.
The statement added that 33.1 percent of total exports between
January and September were made up of fruit and vegetables, $168 million, steel
and iron, $133 million, clothing, $126 million, rubber products, $87 million,
and non-ferrous metals, $86 million.
At the same time, 33.4 percent of imports were made up of oil
and oil derivatives, $505 million, automobiles, $373 million, cloths and
textile, $331 million, industrial machinery, $274 million, and electric
appliances, $209 million.
